چکیده

Background and Objectives: Mineral topsoil moisture is a very important component of the hydrological balance in forests. The closely related to forest type, its woody species composition, stand age, structure through interception evapotranspiration. We aimed investigate response precipitation three treatments: under young Norway spruce, white birch, grass-dominated treeless gap at an acidic mountain site Jizerské hory Mts., Czech Republic. study was conducted 18- 21-year-old stands during four growing seasons. Materials Methods: analyzed parameters were: rainfall amounts measured by on-site automated station, root penetration using auger, soil continuously electric sensors, as well derived such interception. Results Conclusions: Even within small patches treatments, water content found be higher vegetation compared both tree species. In addition, spruce significantly more saturated than birch. average growing-season capacity treatment ranged from 1.4 2.2 mm, 2.1 2.6 1.2 respectively. Soil mostly decreased periods flushing stabilized transitions dormant seasonal effects were particularly obvious birch stand. crucial factors decreasing included rooting depth density, which may predispose preferential pathways for infiltration. This validated birch’s capability decrease content, can beneficial secondary-waterlogged sites.

Moisture in Untreated, Acetylated, and Furfurylated Norway Spruce Monitored during Drying below Fiber Saturation Using Time Domain Nmr

Using time domain–nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, the moisture content (MC) in Norway spruce [Picea abies (L.) Karst.] sapwood, subjected to three different treatments (untreated, acetylated, and furfurylated), was studied during drying at 40 C at MCs below fiber saturation. Spin–spin relaxation time distributions were derived from Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill relaxation curves using muli...

Moisture in the topsoil

The boundary that separates the earth from the atmosphere is a crucial zone of study for meteorology and hydrology. Here, solar energy is partitioned into sensible heat which drives atmospheric circulation, latent heat needed for evaporation from the soil and transpiration of vegetation, and soil heat which warms the subsurface. Precipitation is partitioned into interception that evaporates dir...

Mountain-Block Hydrology and Mountain-Front Recharge

In semiarid climates, a significant component of recharge to basin aquifers occurs along the mountain front. Traditionally called “mountain-front recharge” (MFR), this process has been treated by modelers of basins as a boundary condition. In general, mountain-front recharge estimates are based on the general precipitation characteristics of the mountain (as estimated, e.g., by the chloride mas...

Percentile Based Basal Area Diameter Distribution Models for Scots Pine, Norway Spruce and Birch Species

Information about diameter distribution is used for predicting stand total volume, timber volume and stand growth for forest management planning. Often, the diameter distribution is obtained by predicting the parameters of some probability density function, using means and sums of tree characters as predictors. However, the results have not always been satisfactory: the predicted distributions ...

Nutrient Dynamics and Decomposition rate of Norway Spruce Needles in Stråsan and Lajim stands

Climate changes due to changes in a habitat leads to differences in the rate of decomposition and nutrient dynamics of leaflitters, which has many effects on the controlling factors of the decomposition process. In the present study, the rate of decomposition and nutrient dynamics of Norway spruce was evaluated for 363 days in the two forestation sites in the natural and foreign habitats, ...
